Regional Child Sexual Exploitation Coordinator and Analyst Blog

Hello, my name is Larisa Hunt and I am the new CSE coordinator for the South West region. I am from Avon and Somerset Constabulary and my background is as a detective working in child protection, public protection and more recently managing a number of child sexual exploitation investigations in Bristol.

This is my first blog and my aim is to keep you regularly updated about what I am doing.

Initially, the main part of my role will be to look at the five South West forces and the Regional and Organised Crime Unit to benchmark where we all are against the National Action Plan for CSE. I will look at the main areas for development and help each force to work towards these.

I am working with Elicia Boon who is the new regional CSE analyst.

I will be working to establish a Strategic Governance Group for CSE in the South West. At this time, this will be chaired by T/ACC Kay Wozniak from Avon and Somerset Constabulary. All CSE leads from the South West forces, the ROCU, NCA, BTP and CPS will be invited.

In addition to this, I am particularly interested in risk assessments for CSE, alternative disruption tactics and building the intelligence picture for CSE.

I am also working closely with the National Working Group, a leading national charity for CSE. Please have a look at their website; www.nwgnetwork.org. It contains lots of useful resources that you can use free of charge. They run training courses and they also run a helpline for young people. This is branded as ‘Say Something If You See Something.’ Please spread the word and Say Something if You See Something.
